Graphical User Interface

October 14, 15:30-17:00

Embedded devices get more processing power constantly. Can do more things and will have numerous options to select. The GUI becomes a critical part of the design and operation of the units. Qt and Android are leading the market in embedded applications.

Presentations will be made by:

Fredrik Ademar, CTO, TAT AB

“User Interface trends enabled by emerging hardware technologies”

UI is important as a differentiating factor in Android. It is possible to create great user experiences in Android, and we will look into the possibilities and constraints. The presentation will also cover hardware accelerated graphics in Android UI:s

Fredrik Ademar is leading the work around new products and emerging technology strategies as CTO of TAT. He has been working in the mobile industry for the last decade, and before joining TAT he was heavily involved in the evolution of embedded browser and multimedia technologies at Teleca/Obigo and within industry forums like OMA, 3GPP etc. Prior work also includes establishment of a small Bluetooth start-up, work with product strategies and development at Telia etc. Fredrik's formal background is a Master of Science in Computer Science and Engineering at LTH Sweden.

Bitsim Johan Thelin

"Qt for Embedded Linux - Rapid application development in an open source world".

"The Qt toolkit makes it possible to use one source code across all platforms  from the desktop to your custom device. By choosing a toolkit you can start the software development early and make choices regarding operating system and hardware solutions late - all helping to shorten the time to market. In this session, we will look at the tools, the code and the deployment of an
embedded Qt application."

"Johan Thelin, the author of the book Foundations of Qt Development, has worked with Qt since 2000. With experience form server-side enterprise software, desktop applications, web solutions and embedded devices, he now works as a consultant focusing on embedded systems."
