"FiberChannel Over Ethernet, FCoE. The new generation of datac ommunication infrastructure."
This seminar will explain the technology, the usability and the new test challenge. The data centers are undergoing a major infrastructure revolution. The next generation data center network is projected to be unified, virtualized and power efficient. FCoE is the technology to converge the storage network onto Ethernet LAN, speeding up the network convergence. The technology breakthrough has also shifted the test interests into SAN from LAN, bringing new test challenges on existing Ethernet network testing infrastructure. This seminar will explaining the new testing needs on FCoE and converged Ethernet, introduce some new SAN focused testing concepts.

"Benefits of FPGA technology in embedded measurement and control applications"
Field-programmable gate array (FPGA) technology continues to gain momentum, and the worldwide FPGA market is expected to grow from $1.9 billion in 2005 to $2.75 billion by 2010. Since its invention by Xilinx in 1984, FPGAs have gone from being simple glue logic chips to actually replacing custom application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and processors for signal processing and control applications. Why has this technology been so successful? This presentation provides an introduction to FPGAs and highlights some of the benefits that make FPGAs unique. You learn what type of applications will benefit from FPGA technology and find out how the technology is implemented in embedded measurement and control applications. We will also introduce how to use graphical programming method to design, prototype and deploy advanced reconfigurable FPGA systems.
Biography:
René Voorhorst holds an engineering degree from the Hogeschool van Utrecht in Electronic Design. After working a few years for 3-Tel and Royal Boskalis Westminster NV René started his career at National Instruments as Applications Engineer in the Netherlands early 2000 and shortly after that moved into Sales and Sales Management. In July 2005 René moved to Sweden as Managing Director for National Instruments Sverige AB, a sales operation with technical support, product training, business development, marketing, and administration functions.

Hossein Mousavi
"Verification, Validation and Test in Model Based Design"
Continuous test and verification is a cornerstone of Model-Based Design. Early verification and validation, also known as V&V, enables you to find errors early in the development process, when they are less costly to fix. V&V exposes design flaws, inadequate requirements, incomplete tests, and unnecessary design constructs. In this session, MathWorks engineers will describe the support for V&V in MATLAB/Simulink within the context of Model Based Design.
Hossein Mousavi is a Senior Application Engineer at The MathWorks leading the Nordic Team of engineers working with Control Design & Automation. Hossein has many years of experience using MATLAB/Simulink and working with customers implementing Model Based Design in the development process. |

Björn Langels
"Accelerate your application in custom hardware using C - a case study from the real world."
Today’s designs tend to grow in complexity and so does the development time.
Hardware design languages are normally cycle based and force the designer to focus on cycle delays and synchronisms in data and control paths instead of the algorithms themselves.
A case study will be presented from the real world describing how BitSim helped a company to start using ImpulseC, a C-to-Hardware tool, to implement software defined radio, SDR, algorithms in FPGA hardware.
Björn Langels is a teacher of hardware design and is one of BitSim’s experienced hardware and software designers. BitSim is a consultant company and design house in Sweden.
Björn has 10+ years of design experience in the FPGA area, e.g. designs in image-processing algorithms for professional film and video post-processing equipment at Digital Vision AB, image recognition systems and hardware accelerators for BADGE, BitSim’s Graphic Accelerator. He has been teaching design techniques under the Xilinx Authorized Training Partner program in the Nordic region since 2006.

Peter Skoog
"Board and system design in today’s ever changing market"
Historically a design team have been able to define the technical requirements, ask sales how many units they will sell and then simply calculate what is the best way to proceed. Today its no more so. Everything is open and the only thing given is change. This put new demands on development programs. Both design and production resources must quickly be adaptable to change. Still it in all phases must be as optimized as possible. This seminar is about the options available today for a design team.
Peter Skoog
Worked in the embedded board industry for over 10 years. Over this period he has been involved in both large and small projects. Current function is a key account manager with Kontron.

Patrik Björklund
"Embedding x86 technology - COM, SBC or full-custom"
This is a guide on how to choose the correct approach taking into account the many factors in an embedded development project. The three main alternatives are to design with a computer module on a carrier board, using a single board computer or to go for a full-custom design. The choice is depending on for instance the type of application, the time-to-market requirements and production volumes. Other aspects are the size of the NRE investment needed, unit pricing and maintenance and support issues. The presentation will walk you through the advantages and disadvantages, economically and technically, and give an overview of popular x86 platforms and solutions from Hectronic. Hectronic boards and systems are based on industry standard form-factors as well as purpose-built designs.
Patrik Björklund has an extensive experience in sales and distribution of electronic and computer components, such as semiconductors, boards and systems, to OEM customers. He has been the Area Sales Manager for Sweden at Berendsen Components and Director of Marketing for the Nordic Countries at Microtronica, an Arrow company in the PC component business. Today he is the Sales and Marketing Manager at Hectronic AB.

CC Systems AB
Mikael Åkerholm
"Managing complexity and building safe electronic systems for industrial vehicles"
The electronic systems become increasingly important for developers of heavy industrial vehicles. This development follows the evolution we have already seen in the automotive industry where one of the worlds largest component suppliers 2006 stated that "Ninety percent of innovations in a modern car are based on new developments in electronics". The electronic systems become defining for the core vehicle behaviour, e.g., handling, comfort, energy-efficiency, and performance, the electronic systems also enable new innovative functions that manufacturers must provide to stay competitive, e.g., fleet management systems, video surveillance, and vehicle diagnostics. At the same time the increasing electronic content brings more complexity into the vehicles, and legislation increases the demands on the electronic systems to be safe and secure. Thus, to be able to compete, the manufacturers on one hand is under pressure to include more electronic content, and on the other hand manage the increasing complexity and demonstrate that the resulting systems is safe and secure.
This talk presents CC Systems latest product platforms helping industrial vehicle manaufacturers to manage complexity and build safe electronic control systems. We will introduce a new product platform for advanced controller functionality, machine telematics and powerful network traffic logging. The talk will also introduce CC Systems two different families of safety certifiable display computers for industrial vehicles.
Mikael Åkerholm works as chief software architect at CC Systems. He joined the company in 2004. He has a PhD in Computer Science with specialisation in component-based software engineering for embedded systems.
