Telecom
The telecom area is the natural place to be when you are involved
with board level computers. This business is confronting a revolution
as big as what the PC has meant to the computer business. The
new technology is based on the Internet standards and the giant
telecom companies' competence in analog switching is suddenly
not worth anything.
The result is that the telecom companies will buy standard/customized
computer gear, and this market will explode.
Areas that I have studied here include:
- Hardware - Standard computers vs board level systems
- Software - Real Time vs. NT vs. UNIX.; and now Linux
- Fault Tolerant and High Availability systems
